Gaudí by day, the old town by night — August 2022.
In Barcelona, you read the city in its stone. There are Gaudí's wild ideas: the spiral of a ceiling, the wavy façade of Casa Batlló, the Sagrada Família towers above the trees. And right next to them, the ordinary city: an arch, a studded door, an alley where a tree has grown between the cobbles. By day the colour bursts out. At night it fades, and only shapes and light remain. I look at the monument and the street corner in the same way.
